Operating System (OS) -
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows ME, Windows 2000 Professional are
all examples of operating systems. Without an OS all you have is
useless computer hardware.
Web Browser - This is any application allowing you to browse the
internet, such as, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Safari or the newly
release Google application Chrome.
RAM - Random Access Memory. This is your computer's memory.
The more RAM the faster your computer - to a point.
Hard Drive - This is where you will save all of your files
and where your applications and operating system is installed.
CPU - Central processing unit. This is the heart of your
hardware. The faster your CPU the faster your computer, to a point.
Spam - Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems
to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages. While the most
widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied
to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet
newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam,
Online classified ads spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet
forum spam and junk fax transmissions
Malware - Derives from the words malicious and software. It
is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system
without the owner's informed consent. The expression is a general
term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of
hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.
Spyware - Is computer software that is installed
surreptitiously on a personal computer to intercept or take partial
control over the user's interaction with the computer, without the
user's informed consent.
Adware - Or advertising-supported software is any software
package which automatically plays, displays, or downloads
advertisements to a computer after the software is installed on it
or while the application is being used. Some types of adware are
also spyware and can be classified as privacy-invasive software. |
